4th Birthday Card - Hobby Arts "Dogs" stamp and Funky Fossil stencil

Here's a card I've made for a little boy who will be four years old next week.

I used "Peacock Feather" Distress Oxide Inks through the "Funky Circle Stencil" from Funky Fossil Designs to create the background pattern.

I stamped the dog image, which is part of the Hobby Arts Ltd "Dogs - CS130D" stamp set, coloured with coloured pencils, then fussy cut and adhered over the stencil.

Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment, which is part of the "Stylish Sentiments" stamp set by Papertrey Ink.

Pop Art Style Card using "Abstract Beauty" from Funky Fossil Designs

Funky Fossil Designs have started to sell "black texture paste", so I thought i"d better try it out.  I have to say I was really impressed with how it applied through my stencil and it was easy to wash off the stencil and hands afterwards.

I used the paste through the Funky Fossil "Sunray Stencil".  I then used their "Abstract Beauty" stamp set to stamp the image of the face on to white card.  I cut around the image and applied it over a piece of black card and then adhered it to the card base over the stencilled image.

New Baby Card, using Lavinia Stamps

My friends became Grandparents recently, so I made a card for them.  I used the stamps that I knew were her favourite Lavinia Stamps.

I created a background using assorted colours of Distress Oxide Inks.  For the sky area, I used Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky.  For the lower area, I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint.  I used the swooshing and a paint brush techniques to fill the area.

I used an assortment of Lavinia Stamps to build up the image, starting with "Sacred Spells" script stamp, stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.  Using the same ink, I created the landscape lines by dragging the ink across the torn edge of copy paper.

I stamped the "Celestial Tree"  in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink then the "Midnight Meandering" in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" ink.

Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the "Large Owl", the "Tree Branch", "Pipin" the baby hare, the "Fern Heads", the "Willow" and the "Mini Slender Mushrooms".

Finally, I added white highlights to areas using a Posca Pen.  I stamped the sentiment on the front of the card using a "Personal Impressions" stamp called "Double Sayings".  The sentiment I used inside the card is a stamp I have had for many years by Inkwell Stamps.  Both sentiments are stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Lavinia Stamps New Stamp Release (January 2020 ) Luna Lights and Words of Spring

Here is another sample I have produced for Lavinia Stamps.  I've used two of the new stamps to create this tag - Luna Lights and Words of Spring.

I started by using three shades of Distress Oxide Inks (Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Squeezed Lemonade" swooshed over a white tag to create the mottled coloured background.

I multiple stamped the "Words of Spring" stamp, using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.  I inked the edges of the tag in the same ink.

I multiple stamped the "Luna Lights" image using Versafine Clair "Summertime" orange shade of ink.

Finally, I mounted the tag onto some green card to match the green ink and added a decorative ribbon

Lavinia Stamps - New Stamp Release Sample Preview (January 2020) - Aria

Lavinia Stamps have some fabulous new stamps that will be released on their site on Monday 27th January 202.  I have been fortunate to have a play with them to create some promotional samples.

I've used "Aria" the kneeling fairy, her hands are held out waiting to hold something.  I've used an existing Lavinia stamp called "bubbles" to replicate a crystal ball.

In each corner I have stamped another new design called "Mystic Swirl".  The sentiment is in the existing collection and is called "Once Upon a Dream" all stamping is in Versafine Clair "Chianti" on a gelliplate background.

Lavinia Stamps New Stamp Release Preview (January 2020) - Mushroom Lantern

This is a sample I have made for Lavinia Stamps using one of their fabulous new stamps which will be available to purchase from Monday 27th January 2020.

I had a very small off-cut of a gelli-plate/Brusho background that I had saved, so I used this to stamp the new Mushroom Lanterns.  They come is a single and a duo set.  I stamped them using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" adding extra colour using a blue Posca Pen and then silver over the top using a Signo Pen.

Lavinia Stamps New Stamp Release Sample Preview (January 2020) - Luna Lights

It was love at first sight as soon as I saw this brand new stamp called "Luna Lights" from Lavinia Stamps.

Yes, it can be dressed up with fancy backgrounds and other supporting stamps, but the simplicity of this card really highlights the fabulous detail Tracey Dutton has put in to designing her stamps.

I've stamped the "Luna Lights" in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green in, on to an off-cut of Brusho lemon background which has some little speckles of orange in it. I inked the edges using the same green ink and them mounted the image onto a white card blank.

A simple "clean and simple (CAS) card with big impact.

Lavinia Stamps New Stamp Release Preview (January 2020) Aria, Luna Lights and Pink Orbs

Time to showcase another sample I have created using some of the new January 2020 stamp releases from Lavinia Stamps.

I used a background created by using three shades of Dylusions Ink Sprays, which create lovely vibrant colours.

Once dry I started to stamp the images, first one was the "Pink Orbs" that the fairy sits on, which I stamped in Versafine Clair "Glamorous" pink ink.

I then stamped "Aria" in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.  I also stamped the word "Love" which is part of the "Live The Life" stamp set already in the Lavinia collection.

I returned to the Versafine Clair "Glamorous" pink ink stamping the "Luna Lights" suspended from the top left of the card.  While the ink was out, I also stamped a little heart, which is in the existing Lavinia collection and is called "Single Heart Mini".  I cut the heart out and adhered it into position in the hands of the fairy.

I used a selection of red, gold and black pens to colour in the "orbs".  I also used a Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add some subtle gold shimmer to areas of the card.

Lavinia Stamps New Stamp Release (January 2020) Aria, Luna Lights and Pink Orbs

I am absolutely loving the new stamps from Lavinia Stamps, especially this fairy "Aria".  As her hair is kind of floating upwards, I decided to make an under water scene as one of my samples.

I started by swooshing two Distress Oxide Inks "Cracked Pistachio" and "Peacock Feathers" across the surface of a piece of white card.

I used Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink to stamp the three new stamps, "Aria" the fairy, "Luna Lights" the flowers on the left of the fairy and "Pink Orbs" the circular designs Aria is sitting on.I used a pencil to shade the "Pink Orbs".

I used two stamps from the existing Lavinia Stamps collection to create the bubbles, "Sea Bubbles" and "Bubbles" both stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.  I used a white Posca Pen to shade the bubbles along with a silver glitter Signo Pen.

Petal Burst Stencil

I lay the stencil on a piece of plain copy paper and lightly ran an assortement of Distress Ink colours over the surface of the stencil.  I then spritzed the inks and lay a piece of card over the inked stencil.  The soft fragmented image transfers to the card.

I stamped half of the "Blooming Birthday" flower garland in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.  I then stamped the flower heads in a purple colour on plain white card, coloured with felt pens then fussy cut and adhered into position.

I used another Distress Oxide Ink (Iced Spruce), to stamp the trees. I then used a little diluted "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide to paint some pale blue onto the snow below the trees.

Finally, I stamped the bird and the sentiment using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey coloured ink.

I used three Visible Image stamp sets to create this card.  First I stamped the mermaid (Visible Image "Mythical Mermaid" stamp set) on to the coloured card base and also onto an off-cut of white card, using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" in both instances.

Using the coloured card base I stamped the rays over the head of the mermaid using Visible Image "Rays of light" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Paradise" blue ink.

Using a stamp from the Visible Image "Dare to swim" stamp set, I stamped the sea weed using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

I then coloured the image of the mermaid, using a black fine line marker pen for the staff (both on the coloured background and the area by the arm of the mermaid).  I used "Tattered Rose" Distress Oxide Ink (applied with a paint brush) for the skin and an assortment of Signo Pens for the rest of the mermaid.  I then cut the image out wit the exception of the staff and adhered onto the card.

I inked the edges of the card in a blue Distress Oxide ink called "Blueprint Sketch" and then stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Funky Fossil Designs January 2020 New Stamp Set Preview - Quirky Owls

If you are like me, I can't wait for new releases of crafting goodies.  Fortunately there is not too long to wait, as Funky Fossil Designs have five fabulous new clear stamp sets which will be available to purchase from 9am, this Saturday 25th January 2020.

I have created this card using one of the new Funky Fossil sets called "Quirky Owls".  These little birds are full of character and I'm sure they will be a huge hit with crafters.

Leafy Tree
I started this card by creating the background, using the Funky Fossil Stencil called "Leafy Tree".

I actually used the tree on it's side to give the impression that the trunk was a branch for the owl to stand on.  I also repositioned the stencil twice to get branches where I wanted them to be.

I used two shades of green Distress Oxide Inks through the stencil - Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn.  I then added some brown colour to the branches using an Arteza coloured pencil.

Using Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink, I stamped the owl on top of the stencilled image, positioned on the branch.  I then stamped him again on a plain piece of white card.  While the Versafine Ink was out, I stamped the "You're Owlsome" sentiment which is also part of the "Quirky Owls" set.

I then painted the background using "Spun Sugar", "Stormy Sky" and "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide Inks.

Returning to the owl stamped on to white card, I then coloured the image using an assortment of Distress Oxide Inks applied with a paint brush (Tea Dye, Antique Linen, Tattered Rose, Rusty Hinge and Aged Mahogany).  I decided to give some metallic gold highlights using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen on some of the feathers.

Design Team Project for "My Time To Craft Challenge" #413 (New Stash)

There is a new theme on the "My Time To Craft Challenge Blog".  The first theme for January is "New Stash" (challenge #413).

My "New Stash" used on this card is a die I purchased over the festive period when an on-line shop called "Hope and Chances" which specialised in Spellbinders dies had a closing down sale.  I have a bit of a thing for Spellbinder dies, so it seemed only natural to re-home this one with me!

The background circle of colour was produced by brayering ink onto a round gelli plate and then sprinking Brusho paint on to the plate and taking an impression.  You never know what design you're going to get and I quite often have a session making this type of backgrounds as I find I get a bit messy!

Anyway, back to this card, I used a background i'd prepared a while back and cut it down to size to a smaller square.

I used my new Spellbinders "Gilded Gate" "S3-201" die to cut some black card through my Big Shot machine.  I glued the gate and posts into postion.

Finally, using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the Hobby Arts Ltd "Welcome To Your New Home" sentiment, which is part of their "General Greetings - CS016D" clear stamp set.

Lavinia Stamps January 2020 Monthly Challenge - Moonlight Magic

On the first of the month, so time for a new Lavinia Stamps monthly challenge theme.  The theme for January is "Moonlight Magic".  You can enter the challenge up to five times each month.  If your name is randomly drawn, you will win a £40 voucher to spend on lovely Lavinia goodies.

I started by masking of a circle and colouring the area with with "Antique Linen" Distress Oxide Inks, to create a moon.  I then covered the area and coloured the sky with various shades of blue Distress Oxide Inks (Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Blueprint Sketch).

I used a Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue"Ink to stamp the "Tree of Dreams" image.  I then used a Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue coloured ink to stamp the "Dancing Till Dawn" fairies.

I multiple stamped the "Sacred Spells" in Versafine "Smokey Gray" shade of ink.  Using the same ink, I created the landscape using the edge of a torn edge of paper.  It then coloured some of the landscape area in "Spun Sugar" Distress Oxide Ink.

I used a white Signo Pen to add highlights to the tree branches and to the edges of the fairies.  I used a silver glitter Signo Pen for the fairy wings and a turquoise glitter pen for the climber up the tree.

Finally, I printed the title "Dancing in the Moonlight", cut it to size and coloured it to match the background.

Stampin' Up "Feeling Sentimental" Male Birthday Card

I know I'm not the only crafter who struggles making cards for males.  I don't know why it's such an issue but the struggle is real!

I started with some cream card for the background, swishing it through an "Antique Linen" Distress Oxide ink.  Using a fan brush and diluted "Tea Dye" Distress Oxide Ink I splattered the darker shade on to the card.

Using Versafine Clair "Chianti" dark red ink, I stamped the Penny Farthing bicycle, which is a Stampin' Up stamp from their "Feeling Sentimental" wood mounted stamp set.  Using the same ink, I stamped the Hobby Arts Ltd sentiment which is part of their "General Greetings - CS016D" clear stamp set.

I used another Stampin' Up set called "Gorgeous Grunge" with Versafine "Vintage Sepia" ink to make the foxing marks.

Lavinia Stamps January 2020 Monthly Challenge - Moonlight Magic

On the first of each month, Lavinia Stamps announce a new monthly challenge theme.  The theme for January 2020 is "Moonlight Magic".  You can enter the challenge up to five times in one month.  If your name is randomly drawn after the 25th of the month, you will receive £40 vouchers to spend on lovely Lavinia goodies.

I made a tag as my second challenge sample, it has a beautiful sparkle which I hope you can see from my little video clip.

I started by giving my tag a coat of "Faded Jeans" Distress Oxide Ink.  Then at the top of the tag I blended in a darker shade of Distress Oxide Ink called "Chipped Sapphire".

My next step was to stamp the "Fairy Barnacles" at the bottom of the tag using Versafine Clair "Fantasia" purple ink.

I dragged an anti-static bag across the surface to the tag then using Wow! Clear Embossing Pad, I stamped the "Fairy Dandelions", coating them in Wow! Super Fine Metallic Silver Embossing Powder and set with a heat gun.

I repeated the process stamping the "Meadow Grass" with the clear embossing pad and using Wow! "Silent Night" embossing powder which is a dark grey/black with a beautiful sparkle to it.  I again set it with the heat gun.

I stamped the fairy, which is part of the "Three Dancing Fairies" stamp set in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" Black ink.  I added some touches of sparkle to her wings and around her using a Silver Glitter Signo Pen.

Visible Image - Play Guitar Card

While sorting my file with previously created backgrounds, I came across a small off cut of a multi coloured Distress Ink background, so decided to use it now rather than keeping it in the file and then eventually getting rid of it.

The size was a little restrictive (2.5" x 5.5"), so I decided to use a Distress Oxide Ink called "Blueprint Sketch" through the Visible Image "Play Guitar" stencil.

I used another striped stencil by Clarity Stamps to create the striped effect using the Distress Oxide Ink "Peacock Feathers", the colour matched one of the background colours really well, so seemed to tie everything in.

Finally, using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the "Go where your dreams take you" sentiment which is part of a Visible Image stamp set called "Where Dreams Take You".

I then mounted the coloured piece on to black, which makes the colours pop and then added it to a card blank.

Funky Fossil "Birds In Flight" Sympathy Card

Not the cheeriest card to share on New Years Day, but at least it is sunny. I made a sympathy card last night using two Funky Fossil Designs stencils.

I used the "Birds In Flight" stencil with "Iced Spruce" Distress Oxide Ink.

I then used another Funky Fossil stencil called "Micro Dots" with "Stormy Sky" Distress Oxide Inks.\

For the "Thinking of you" sentiment I used a Stampers Anonymous clear stamp from thier "Saying Stuff - AC002" set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" ink.
