Week 18 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

The prompt for Week 18 is "Mythical".  For my tag, i decided to go for a mermaid, but I also toyed with the ideas of pixies, dragons and a fairy too.

I used a Stampendous mermaid tag, stamped in a StazOn ink.  I coloured the mermaid using Promarkers.

I made a little circle mask for the moon, then painted the background using a paintbrush and diluted Distress Inks.  After I removed the mask, I then used a white Signo pen to add moonlight to the sea,  I also used Stickles on this area and also on the mermaid herself to give a shimmery wet look.

Russian Doll New Baby Card

Card #2 for today is this new baby card featuring Russian Doll stamps that came free with a magazine a few months back. I've used Promarkers to colour the dolls.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut the scalloped circle and Stampin' Up patterned paper for the background.

Fairy Make A Wish Card

On the agenda of craft makes for today were three cards, this one is none of them, so I still need to get busy.

I just wanted to play, so using some of the techniques I learnt at a local workshop run by Jo Rice  I went with what I fancied doing.

The background paper is a sheet of the "Shenandoah - Natural Wonders" stack.  It is a lovely double sided patterned paper.  I have used a selection of stamps including some by Lavinia and Bee Crafty to create this card, all stamped in a Versafine ink.  I used a white Signo pen for the lighter areas.

Week 17 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

On a week when the sun has actually started to shine and give us some heat, crafting has not been high on the agenda, so I'm a little later in the day posting the prompt for this week.

The Prompt for Week 17 is "A Nursery Rhyme".

So where do I start with telling you about this tag.  I started by sticking a piece of used wrapping paper onto a tag.  I then found some old paint tester pots & mini rollers and decided to grunge the background by dragging and daubing the paint.  I then inked the edges in a red and a black ink.  (Here's the paper and paint, before I started).

I then stamped the shells using a Hero Arts wood mounted set called "Little Shells - LL738", coloured them with Promarkers and then cut them out.

Using the Sizzix Big Shot, I die cut the flowers using the Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous "Flower Jar Framelits 662270).  I then coloured them using my pastels and a moist paintbrush.

The assembly started by arranging the flower die cuts and sticking them into position.  I then positioned and glued the sea shells to the base of the tag. I printed out part of the verse, cut it into sections then boxed them with a black biro before sticking them into position.  I then completed the rhyme by writing it around the edge of the tag.  Finally, I tied some silver bells together and added a ribbon.

Raspberry and White Chocolate Muffins

Today I had three helpers with baking, two eleven year olds and one nine year old.  I wanted to make something relatively easy but equally not be too run of the mill, so came across a recipe on-line.

You can read the recipe here.

The recipe was pretty straight forward.  It does seem to make a lot of batter.  I found that it filled 12 paper cases and I didn't even need to scrape the bowl.

I love the tartness of the raspberries against the sweetness of the white chocolate.

I have to say my helpers were delightful girls and a pleasure to be with.  They were rewarded with an hour in the hot tub and a box of muffins each to take home.

Make A Wish Dandelion Card

Today I've been playing with Distress Oxides and made this card.

I applied the Tim Holtz Distress Inks with a brayer.  I then stamped the dandelion heads using a Hobby Arts set of stamps.  The stamped scrolls of fern are from Bee Crafty..  I've used a white Signo pen to create the dots around the dandelion. (All stamping was done using a Versafine ink).

Week 16 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

In the week that the TV has had a lot of coverage of the Commonwealth Games, it seems only right to make the Week 16 Prompt as "Sport".

My tag started off as a background of brayered Distress Oxide inks.  When dry, I then ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot to create the embossed pattern using an "Apple Blossom" die.  I then ran a silver ink pad across the surface so it coloured the raised areas.  I then lightly inked the edges in a black ink.

Using 5cm letter dies, I used the Big Shot to cut the letters for the word "Run".  I then used foam pads to elevate the letters from the base of the card.  I added dots using a white Signo pen.

I stamped the image of the trainers using a free stamp from issue 56 of Creative Stamping magazine.  I then coloured the trainers using Promarkers.

Spellbinders Floral Tag

Yesterday afternoon, I watched a Facebook Live session by Christine Emberson Spellbinders Ambassador.  Where she demonstrated the use of two sets of dies.  I don't have those dies, but today I decided to use a similar layout and dust of some Spellbinders dies which I have not used for some time to make a tag.

I have used an assortment of Spellbinder dies for my tag.  I used an off-cut of green distressed looking paper and stuck it to a tag to create the base.  I then used a lattice die to create the cream trellis work (I seem to have mis-laid the packet) and lightly inked the edges in an olive green ink.

I then die cut a circle in cream card and stamped the sentiment using a Stampin' Up set called "Hello Friend" in a sepia Versafine ink.  Using the Spellbinders Shapeabilities wreath die I cut the wreath in brown card and stuck it around the circle.

Using water colour paper, I die cut the leaves and layers of petals, using Spellbinders "Timeless Heart - Textured Flowers".  I then coloured them using Tim Holtz Distress Inks, building up the colours as I went.  I spritzed the pieces which then allowed me to manipulate the shapes to have curves.  I then secured the layers together with a small brad.

Week 15 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

So this week has been a mixed bag for me.  This cough/cold has now been with me for over a fortnight and I've passed it to Hubby too.  However on the upside, our third grandchild was born, a beautiful boy who is still waiting for a name.

The prompt for Week 15 is "Light / Shine"

For my tag, I started off with a piece of yellow cardstock and stamped the Inkylicious light bulb onto it using a black Versafine ink.  I then used a Stamper's Anonymous sunray stamp using a Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in "Carved Pumpkin" and then over stamped some of the rays using a Stazon ink in a "Claret" shade.  I then cut the light bulb shape out and inked the edges in black.

I then cut a piece of grey cardstock into a tag shape and stamped the raindrops onto it using an Inkylicious stamp.  I coloured areas of the droplets in with a white Signo pen to replicate light hitting it.

Having already decided on the saying, I typed, printed and cut it up, adding a little black pen frame to accentuate the words.

Week 14 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

It's April already, time really has flown this year.  Thank you to all those following this challenge.  I am loving seeing your creations.

The prompt for Week 14 is "Fly".  I thought this one could be interpreted in several different ways.

The background of this tag was made using a brayer and several shades of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks.

The sentiment is from a stamp called "Fly Away / Flutterby Collection" by Crafters Companion stamped in Versafine ink.

The wings were created by using Distress Inks on Yupo paper.  I then die cut the paper using Stampin' up "Butterflies Thinlits".  The girl is from a Tim Holtz "Paper Dolls" pack coloured  using Promarkers.  Finally I added white and black dots to the background and then inked the edges.
