Lavinia Stamps - "Believe" challenge card

 

I'm home again after a few days away.  How I have missed my crafting!

Yesterday, Monday 17th April, Eileen Godwin set a challenge of using only stencils to make a card.  This is what I made. It is totally out of season, but actually quite nice to do something festive for a change.

I used a whole host of stencils by Lavinia Stamps along with Archival Inks and Wow! Embossing Powders.

I started the card by using the Lavinia "Stag" Sticker Stencil from set 4 using "Tea Rose" Archival ink go colour the stag head.  I then used the same ink through the Lavinia "Cryptic" stencil.

I used "Prickly Pear" Archival Ink around the stag head, then used the same ink and some "Leaf Green" Archival Ink through the Lavinia "Honeycomb" stencil.

I then used "Sky Blue" Archival Ink through the Lavinia "Divine" stencil.

Next I applied "Fern Green" Archival ink through the Lavinia "Red Brick" stencil.

I moved on to "Cobalt" Archival Ink with the Lavinia "Moon Mask" to create the partially shaded moon in the background.

While I had the "Cobalt" ink out,  I then used it through the the Lavinia "Faith" stencil to create the "Believe" word. Using "Cobalt" again to darken the edges of the card.

I used Wow! Embossing Ink and Wow! Clear Embossing Powder through the Lavinia "White Orbs" stencil from the top left to the bottom right and heat set.

Once the clear embossing was cool, I dusted the surface with an anti-static bag and used the same stencil with Wow! White Puff Twinkle Embossing Powder in the same area and heat set.

I added a few pencil details around the head of the stag using "Van Goch Pastel Pencils" to add some shadow to the head.

Lavinia Stamps "Indra the Moth" on an archival ink background

Inspired by a demo by Eileen Godwin, I created this card.  For the base colour, I used three shades of Elements Inks:  Sundance, Confetti and Della Blue.

Here's a short video clip which shows the glittery surface of Indra.

I used Wow! "Mistletoe Magic" embossing powder and their clear ink pad to stamp the moth image and then heat set.

I used Archival Inks through several Lavinia Stamps stencils:  Dynamic, Elegance and Posy.  Using White Pan Pastel through "White Orbs" stencil.

Using "Purple Delight" Versafine Clair ink, I stamped the "See a fairy make a wish" verse.

I stamped the "Inspire" word, part of the Lavinia "Inspire Me" stamp set in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

I inked the edges of the card twice.  The first time using "Twilight" dark blue ink creating a broader coloured edge, then on the very edge, I used "Nocturne" to make the whole thing stand out a bit more.

I used a white Signo gel pen on the moth to highlight some of the design on the moth. 

I then used white and black enamel accents for extra detail, finally mounting the card on to a white card blank.

 

Lavinia Stamps Celeste on a Coral and Pebble Stencil Background

I had a rubbish night of sleep last night, so it was a relief to get up.  It did mean that I had a head start on some crafting, which was a bonus.

Today I have used two Lavinia Stamps stencils.  The first thing I did was lay the "Coral" stencil on some kitchen towel, I then lightly spritzed it with a couple of shades of Dylusion Spray Ink, I used Crushed Grape and London Blue.  I then flipped the stencil on to an off cut of white card and smoothed over.  I lifted the card and dabbed any surplus ink away, then gave it a blast on the low setting of the heat gun.  

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos mid way as I really didn't think I would actually be making a card.  But this one just kind of evolved.

I lay the Lavinia Stamps "Pebble" stencil over the background and lightly applied "Peacock Feathers" Distress Oxide Ink with a blending tool through the stencil, making the central area lighter and the edges darker.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps fairy called "Celeste" in the middle of the card using "Medieval Blue" Versafine Clair ink.  

Next I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Marine Kelp" in first and second generation using "Monarch" a purple Versafine Clair ink.

I then decided I wanted to introduce more mauve shades.  I did say I had nothing in mind when I started making this!  I used "Wilted Violet" Distress Oxide ink with a blending tool, again, I applied a light shade in the middle and darker towards the edges.

I used the Lavinia Stamps "Shoal of fish" and "Sea Bubbles" stamp with Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Finally, I added some white and silver glitter highlights to a few areas using Signo pens.
