CAS Penny Black "Serene" Card

I am loving making these clean and simple cards.  It makes a nice change from all the fussy backgrounds.  This one was a very quick make, but it says what's needed "Hang in there"!

For this card, I stamped the background first, using the Lavinia Stamps "Texture 1" stamp, stamping off the edge using Versafine Clair "Warm Breeze" ink.

I then stamped the Penny Black flourish, which is part of their "Serene" stamp set, along with the Simon Says Stamp sentiment from their "Tiny Words - Encouragement" both in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Wow! Embossed Heart Valentine's Card

It's hard to believe that Valentine's Day is next week, it seems to have come round so quickly, so I thought I'd better get crafting, making a card for my Hubby.

I die cut three hearts from a sheet of card,  I glued two together and set aside for later.  With the remaining one, I had a play with several colour of Wow! Embossing Powders getting a lovely melted mingle of colours.  I used "Love is the drug", "Earthtone Blueberry", "Rich Gold" and "Silent Night" (which has some glitter in with the embossing powder.

Between each colour, I heat set then once cool, applied more embossing ink before applying the next colour. The more times I did it, the longer the powder would take to become liquid, but when it did, the heat gun was able to move the colour around the heart.

For the final coat, I used Wow! Clear embossing powder to give an extra glossy finish to the heart.  Once it was dry, I glued it to the other heart(s) so that it had a strong base, then added foam pads to the base of the heart.

I then moved on to the card base, creating a card blank measuring four inches square.  Using the same white card, I die cut two squares one with a plain edge and one with a stitched edge.

I adhered the plain square on to the prepared card blank. I then put the stitched edged square through a Cuttlebug embossing folder with a small dot designs and ran it through the Big Shot. I then adhered the embossed square over the plain one on the card base.

In my craft stash, I found some white die cut leaves using the Sizzix/Stampin' Up "Pretty Pines Thinlits Die Set", so I used those and glued them into position on the card.

Before I added the heat embossed heart, I stamped the words  "Love You" using the Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Words - Encouragement" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Finally, I popped the heat embossed heart in the middle of the card and added some sticky backed gems to some of the foliage.

Penny Black Inc "Calla Lilies 282K (1995)" Card

Today I have been using a wood mounted stamp by Penny Black inc.  It's an old stamp, dated 1995 and is called "Calla Lilies - 282K".

I stamped the image using a fade our ink and then coloured it using Derwent Inktense water colour pencils, applied with a brush.  I added some pencil detail and also used a white gel pen to highlight areas.

The sentiment, is part of a Simon Says Stamp set called "Tiny Words - Encouragement", stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.  Around the edge of the card, I used a blending brush with "Bundled Sage" Distress Oxide Ink.

Lavinia Stamps "Maka the wolf"" and the owl card

I don't usually make cards for other people.  I don't like the pressure it puts me under and there is obviously the fear of disappointment that I've not made what they wanted.

Last night I received a message asking if I could make a wolf card for a special occasion in a month.  I reluctantly agreed.  As I was up early this morning, I decided to make the card, so it was done and out of the way, instead of me spending time fretting about it.  This is the card I made.

I used a spray ink Dylusion spray ink background from my stash that I had made some months previously. I used my Van Goch Pastel Pencils to add a bit more colour to a few areas too.

I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink with an assortment of Lavinia Stamps, including "Maka the wolf", Woodland Fern, The Red Pines and Foliage Set. I also used Gel and Posca Pens for colour and highlights.

I used a sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp set called "Tiny Words Encouragement" also stamped in "Nocturne" black ink.

Lavinia Stamps "Fairy Bell" Sympathy Card

I needed to catch the post today so this sympahy card could get on its way.

I've used the Lavinia Stamps "Fairy Bell" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Verdant" and coloured with a white gel pen.

I've used the Funky Fossil Designs "Micro Dots" stencil with "Weathered Wood" Distress Oxide Ink.  (If you're a regular follower, you will know that this stencil is one of my most used and favourite stencil).

To the base of the "Fairy Bells" I added a touch of "Weathered Wood" and "Frayed Burlap" Distress Oxide Ink to ground the flowers.

Finally, I used a sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp set called "Tiny Words - Encouragement".  (I thought the "Hang In There" sentiment would be ideal for those grieving), stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Lavinia Stamps "Blackberry" Card

I've been playing with my Lavinia Stamps again this afternoon, making this card.

I used a blue and a yellow water colour paint to create the background.  I then stamped the Lavinia "Blackberry" in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

Next, I used the Lavinia Stamps "Elegance" stencil with "Pumice Stone" Distress Oxide ink to create the patterned background.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Fern Branch" and the Simon Says Stamps "Tiny Word Encouragement" sentiment, both stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

Finally, I coloured the blackberries with water colour paints.
