Lavinia Stamps "Seed Head" Thinking of You Card

I am feeling the "clean and simple" style today, so made this "Thinking of You" card, using Lavinia Stamps "Seed heads" stamp, stamped in two shades of Versafine Clair inks, Verdant and Shady Lane.

The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree".  I added a few touches of gold shimmer to the darker green seed heads by using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

Week 15 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2019

The prompt for Week 15 is "Spring Colours".

For this tag, I started with a background of Distress Oxide Inks in the following shades:  Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron.

I stamped the tree trunk in Versafine "Vintage Sepia" ink.  The blossom is stamped in Versafine Clair "Charming Pink" and "Verdant" . Both sections of the tree are from a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree".

The Spring sentiment at the top of the tag is a "Sweet Poppy" stamp, stamped in Versafine Clair "Verdant".  I created both the landscape and inked the edges using Distress Inks.

Skeleton Tree (Thinking Of You Card) Lavinia Stamps

To make this card, I used Distress Inks for the background and Versafine "Black Onyx" ink for the trees and the sentiment.

I started by making the mountain/hill area.  For the skyline, I used a stencil in two different colours and two different directions.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Single Skeleton Tree" and the Stampin' Up "Sheltering Tree" Sentiment.  Finally, I added a little sparkle by using a silver Signo pen, which unfortunately, doesn't really show up in this photo).

Remembrance Card (Lavinia Stamps)

Yesterday I visited a local church (St.Eleth's Church in Amlwch, Anglesey), which had a fabulous Remembrance display including a whole drift of crochet poppies running from the tower to the ground.  Inspired by this display, I made this clean and simple card.

I masked off a circle on the middle of a card blank and used Distress Inks to create the background scene.  I used the Lavinia Stamps "Group Poppies" stamped in Memento Ink shades of "Cottage Ivy" and "Love Letters".

The sentiment is a stamp by Stampin' Up and is part of the "Sheltering Tree" set, also stamped in Memento Ink "Cottage Ivy".

Here are some photos of my inspiration from yesterday.

New Lavinia Stamps "Flower Flourish" Thinking of you card

Lavinia Stamps have recently released some fab new stamps.  As soon as I returned from my holiday, I ordered some.  They arrived today, so I thought I would have a play.

For this card, I made a coloured background using Brusho.  I then stamped the Lavinia "Flower Flourish" in Versamark then heat embossed the images using Wow, Super Fine Metallic Silver embossing powder.

I mounted the image onto black card and cut to size and positioned and glued onto my card blank.  I then stamped the "Thinking of you" sentiment (Stampin' Up, Sheltering Tree set), in Versafine "black onyx" ink.

Sunflower Sympathy Card

How do you make a sympathy card for the family of somebody who has been cruelly killed and taken from them at such a young age?  Words seem so insignificant. Our friends are in our thoughts constantly, we can not begin to understand what they are going through.  So shocking and so sad.

I used Distress Inks in four different shades through a Clarity Stamp Stencil.  I added further embellishments by using a gold metallic pen and a dark brown Promarker for accent touches.  The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree" stamped in Versafine Ink.

Lavinia Stamps "Chinese Lanterns" Thinking Of You Card

This morning I have been hiding away from the sun.  It is too warm for me, but it does give me a good reason to craft in the cool house instead of painting the fence.

I used the Lavinia Stamps "Chinese Lanterns" stamped in "Vintage Sepia" Versafine ink.  I coloured these using a Promarker.

I then used "Wild Honey" Distress Ink through a stencil for the larger dots and a gold metallic pen for the smaller ones.

Finally for the sentiment I used a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree".

Lavinia Stamps "Dream Catchers" Card

Having made a couple of darker cards, I wanted to make something a bit brighter and made this card using the Lavinia "Dream Catchers" stamp for the flowers and a Stampin' Up stamp from their "Sheltering Tree" set.

I coloured the flowers and the background by using Tim Holtz Distress Inks applied with a paintbrush.  I finished by adding touches of white with a Signo pen and a little shimmer using a Gelly Roll pen.

Upcycling a magnetic stamp (Rubbadubbadoo Feather Card)

I came across an old magnetic backed Rubbadubbadoo stamp that I've not used for some years, mainly due to it having the magnetic background.

I decided to ease the magnetic backing off the stamp and then applied "Easy Mount" to it.  I am now able to use it with my clear blocks or Stamping Platform.  I decided to put it to use, making this card.  I've painted to Distress Inks on to the image to colour it. The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree"

Week 5 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2018

It's Sunday again, so time to get the thinking caps on for the coming week.

The prompt for Week 5 is "Silhouette".  I think this prompt should allow you to create in lots of different directions.  I sat down for an afternoon and created these four tags as examples. Each one fills the brief but is quite different too.

All four tags have a bakground of Tim Holts Distress Inks and Oxide Inks. I've used a white Signo pen on three of the tags.

For this tag I used a floral stamp from a Stamper's Anonymous set.  I filled the background with a Creative Expression stamp called "Hexagon Script".

For this "Full Moon" tag, I used a mask with a circle to create the moon, shading it with Cosmic Shimmer Colour Cloud Blending Ink in "White Clouds" shade.  The tree is part of a Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree".  I used a Brother label maker for the "full moon" text.

For this cat tag, I used Distress Oxides on a page from an old hymn book.  I used a Penny Black stamp called "Skyward".  The cat was cut using a Poppy Stamps die called "Large Sitting Cat".

Finally, I used stamps which I don't recall the name of for this Winter Birds tag.  A mix of Distress and Oxides were used for the background and the edges were inked heavily.

I hope you have a great week.  Sam x

Week 43 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2017

The prompt for Week 43 is "After The Storm".

As it's been a rather rough week weather wise, this prompt seems to be very apt.

The corners of our garden seem to have collected mounds of leaves, so I attempted to reflect this in my tag for this week.

I used assorted Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create the coloured background.  For the moon, I used Cosmic Shimmer "Colour Cloud Blending Ink".  The tree and leaves were bith from the same Stampin' Up set called "Sheltering Tree".  Finally, I added some stars to the sky using a white Signo pen.

Sheltering Tree Favourite Card

I have a box in my craft room where I keep the cards that I've made. This means that generally there is something to hand if I need a card quickly, rather than making one specifically for an occasion.

This card, using Stampin' Up, Sheltering Tree stamp set is one of my favourites and I can't seem to let it go.

Edited to add:  A couple of hours after posting this, I heard the sad news that a friend has lost her mother.  So I have written the card and given it away.  I can always make another. A sad day x
