Week 36 - 52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2017

The prompt for Week 36 is "Floral".

Time is not on my side at the moment, so I opted for a straight forward design with a more fussy background for my tag.

I started using distress inks in shades of orange and yellows, using a splattering effect.  I then used a mask with holes cut in it and filled the holes using a red Promarker pen.  Finishing with inking the edges in two different colours.

Because the background was so busy and obvious, I wanted to dilute it a little, so I positioned a white paper doily to one side.  I then layered some flowers, shading the orange one with the same red pen used for the dots and secured them to the tag with a decorative brad.  Finally, I dug out some foliage bits from my scrap box and positioned them.

Don't forget, If you are taking part in this challenge, I would love to see what you've made.  You can find me message me on Facebook here.

Have a great week.

The Blue Floral Tag

Even though the heat has subsided, I am still struggling to find my crafting mojo.  Last night I decided to have a play and made this tag.

I had prepared the Distress inked background a week or so ago, which I put under a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, to provide a ridged texture. Then added a small strip of white lace to the base of the tag.

Rummaging through my paper flowers I found the dark blue hydrangea petals which I thought would work well, using three layers and securing with a brad.  I then topped the brad with a small white flower.  I die cut and punched various pieces of foliage in white and blue. I finally added some self adhesive pearls.

Water Lily Tag

I couldn't sleep last night, so got up at 4:30, made a cuppa and decided to have a play and make a tag.  In my mind it was going to be a water theme, hence the colour scheme, but for some reason it wouldn't gel, so I ended up making it more of a water lily.

I used an off cut of chevron patterned paper and inked it in various shades of blue, green and mauve.  I found a small section of a die cut honeycomb which I glued to the top.  I then rummaged through my die cuts box and found the foliage in just the right shade.  The flower is in three layers and was secured with a pink brad.

A Floral Tag

This morning, I came across a die cut oval shape in my scrap box. A tag developed from that point using paper flowers, punched leaves & a heart positioned on an embossed background.
