This is a weekly challenge. I provide you with a prompt/theme each Sunday morning through out the year.  The challenge is very relaxed.  You can do as much or as little as you like.  You can create cards, tags, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) or index cards, the choice is yours. You just go with what ever is in your head at the time.  You can stamp, get inky, use patterned papers, texture, embellish it is all down to you.

The prompt for Week 45 is "Metallic"

For my Week 45 "Metallic", I scrunched up some sticky backed silver foil then coated a plain tag, smoothing the surface till it was flat but still had texture.

I used a piece of copper coloured foil sticky backed foil tape, stuck to a piece of card then die cut it into a circle shape.  I used double sided sticky tape to stick the disc on to the silver foil tag.

Next, using a piece of black card, I die cut the woodland scene using a die from Funky Fossil Designs called "Forest Glade Die". on the reverse around the cut out area, I added some strips of double sided sticky tape then stuck the black die cut card on to the silver tag.  I then trimmed the edged down.  Then mounted the tag on to a piece of black card and cut, leaving an equal sized edge to each side.

Using another piece of the same black card, I die cut two black cats using the "Large Sitting Car Die - style 871" by Poppy Stamps Inc.  I used foam pads to sandwich the two layers of cat shaped card together.  Then added more foam pads to the underside and stuck the cat on to the tag.

Finally, I added some white highlight lines using a white Signo gel pen and then added a sentiment, which is part of the Lavinia Stamps "Sentiment Stickers 6" set.

Week 21 prompt for The Crafting Niche "52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2024" is "TEXTURE".

This is the tag that I made for Week 21 with a prompt of "Texture".

I coated a plain tag with three shades of metalic sticky backed foil tape.  I used a mat copper, a shiny copper tape and a shiny silver tape.  You can buy these tapes from hardware stores, I believe plumbers and heating engineers use it.  I was fortunate that my Hubby had some from a previous job, so I nabbed the rest of it.  He won't see it again!

Anyway, once you have covered your tag, smooth the surface.  An old credit card or similar works well.  I then put the whole tag in an embossing folder.  I don't recall, who made it but it had lovely wavy lines on it.  I then ran it through the Big Shot.  I realised I had put the tag in the wrong way round, with the wavy lines being concaved, rather than sitting high/embossed, so I worked with what I had - a happy accident.

I then covered the whole tag with a black sharpie.  Once the tag was covered, I rubbed the surface of the tag with a piece of kitchen roll, to reveal the original colours of the tape, but with the wavy lines being black.  Then with scissors, I cut along one of the wavy lines, so I then had two pieces, one for future use (see below).  

Setting the two pieces to one side, I moved on to work on the dark side of the tag.  I covered a plain tag with black card, then put it through a Crafters Companion/Gemini Embossing Folder and popped it through the Big Shot.

This embossing folder has quite a deep design, so I decided to apply some Cosmic Shimmer "Platinum Gilding Wax" over the top, applied with my finger, which highlighted the design.  I then glued the left hand side of the metalic tape tag on to the tag.

Because the tag was quite thick, I went around the edges with a black Sharpie Pen.  I then mounted the tag on to a piece of black card, trimming to tag shape.

Finally, I raided my crafting embellishments.  I found a Tim Holtz / Idea-ology word sticker, with the word "Feel" which I thought was appropriate.  I popped it on to the tag, then outlined the word with a white gel pen.

I then added some small circular embellishments, following the wavy line.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 57

Today is Day 57 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  It's the start of a new week of prompts, this week is "collage"!

For my make, I raided my stash of cardstock and patterned papers, finding a 6x6 patterned paper with tiny copper dots on a blue background, so I matched everything else with that.

I've used different shades of blue cardstock, some with torn edges, there is some stamping in Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" ink using one of the Lavinia Stamps "Pysichic Signs".  

I used a piece of Funky Fossil "Washi Tape" and a piece of copper foil tape that I scrunched up and then smoothed for added texture/interest.

I used various die cuts I already had cut and finally added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology "Big Chat" word sticker saying "Understanding".

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 33

Today is Day 33 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about texture. For my make, I've gone for a more industrial look today using foils.

I started off with two plain tags.  With one tag, I tore off a piece of copper coloured foil tape and stuck it vertically down the centre of the tag.  I then put that to one side.

I tore off a length of silver coloured sticky back foil tape, scrunched it up into a ball and then smoothed it over the surface of the second tag, using an old store card to get it relatively flat.  I then covered the foil tape with a black Sharpie pen.

Next, I used a die with a herringbone style to cut the central pattern, retaining the small cut out pieces.

I buffed the Sharpie covered foil, lifting the majority of the pen, but leaving remnants in the creases of the foil and around the die cut area.

Around the edges of the copper foil tag, with the foil facing upwards, I added double sided sticky tape, peeling off the paper and then laying the silver foi tag on top of the copper one.  I smoothed the edges to ensure they were fully stuck.  

I then mounted the tag on to a piece of black card and cut it to size.

Finally, using wet glue I stuck the small pieces of die cut around the edges, these still had the darker colour so there was a nice contrast.  Then I added two Tim Holtz "Idea-ology Big Chat" word stickers saying "Waiting Within" to give a nod to the warmth of the copper colour showing through the die cut area.

Monochrome Foil Tape "Stag" Christmas Card

I seem to be on a roll with my crafting today, here's a monochrome Christmas card using "Karen Warneka's / Oarsum Crafts" Tape a tag technique.

I used a Sizzix die from their thinlits set called "Woodland Deer".  I glued the die cut on to a piece of 4x4" mount board then covered it with sticky backed foil. 

I smoothed out the surface then used a paper stump to determine the edges of the stag. I then used a small ball ended metal tool to go round the outline of the stag and make the vertical lines in the background.

I used a wide tipped black Sharpie pen to cover the entire square.  Once covered, I buffed the surface with a piece of kitchen roll, till the silver stag was exposed but leaving a very textural background.

Next, I mounted the piece on to a square of black card and then used sticky tape to adhere it to a white card blank.

I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink to stamp the Simon Says Stamp Christmas greeting, which is part of their "Tiny Words - Christmas" stamp set.

Sticky backed foil tags (Tape-a-tag)

While away at the caravan, I watched a youtube crafting tutorial by Keren Warneke of "Oarsum Crafts made by KJ", where she shared how she uses sticky backed foil tape to create decorative tags.  I was intreagued and decided I needed to have a go myself once I was back home.

In the meantime, I found that there was also a Facebook group for the tags too, the link to the group is called "Tape-A-Tag" and the link to the group is here.

I got home from the caravan this afternoon and once the first load of washing was in the machine, I sat down at my craft desk to have a play.

I was very fortunate, that I recognised the foil tape Karen used in her tutorial.  I asked Hubby if he still had some and he did, so I rescued it from the shed and the tape is now officially a craft supply and will not be returning to the shed again!

I started with a tag blank.  I cut pieces of cardboard into rough triangle shapes and used a glue stick to stick the shapes into position on to the blank tag. 

I cut off two lengths of foil tape of similar length, slightly longer than the tag length.  I scrunched each one up separately till the foil tape was a ball.  I lightly opened the tape, retaining all the crinkles, removed the backing and stuck the tape down the middle of the tag over the triangle pieces.

With the second piece of tape, again I opened it up and cut it in half, sticking half on one side of the tag and half on the other, till the tag itself was covered.  I turned the tag over and removed the excess using a craft knife.

Next I smoothed the foil over the triangle areas and used an embossing tool to detail the sections between the triangles.

I decided I wanted to replicate the colour of my favourite chocolate bar by using Ranger "Villainous Potion" purple Distress Paint, I painted over the surface of the foil, ensuring it was totally covered.  I set it aside for five minutes, then buffed the surface of the tag with a piece of kitchen roll, removing any surplus paint.

I then added the words "Spread the love" using a Clarity Stamp word sticker with a white background, before mounting the tag on a white background and using a white "hole re-inforcer" before threading silver ribbon through the tag to finish.

I then moved on to the silver tag.  

I used the same process of covering the tag with foil, but this time I didn't scrunch the tape, so the surface was relatively smooth. I ran an old membership card across the surface to make it as smooth as I could achieve.

Using a ruler and a ball ended embossing tool, I created vertical lines over the tag.

Next, I coated the whole tag with a black Sharpie pen.  I set it aside for a couple of minutes then buffed the surface with a piece of kitchen roll, removing the majority of the black Sharpie ink.  The result of it reminds me of the "Black Ice" technique which I tried a few years back using mirror card.

I mounted the tag on to black card stock, then added a sentiment, which is from the Clarity Stamps "Words Stickers" set.  Finally, I threaded a silver ribbon through the hole.
