52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024 - Week 46 Bold & Bright

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

This is a weekly challenge. I provide you with a prompt/theme each Sunday morning through out the year.  The challenge is very relaxed.  You can do as much or as little as you like.  You can create cards, tags, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) or index cards, the choice is yours. You just go with what ever is in your head at the time.  You can stamp, get inky, use patterned papers, texture, embellish it is all down to you.

There is a dedicated private Facebook Group, with a lovely bunch of people who are already sharing their makes from previous challenges.  You can find the group by clicking this link.  I'd love you to join in.

The prompt for Week 46 is "Bold & Bright"

***

For my Week 46 "Bold & Bright" tag, I used a white card cut to a tag shape.  I then blended several shades of Distress Oxide Inks across the surface.  The colours I used were Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Cracked Pistachio, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet.

I then used some of the same colours of Distress Oxide Inks through a couple of Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous stencils.  The stencils I used were THS132 Sparkle Layering Stencil and THS006 Dot Fade Layering Stencil.

For the drift of dragonflies across the tag, I ues a die from the Stampin' Up "Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit" set, cutting two of the them in white card.  I then used wet glue to stick them on the tag, trimming off the surplus.

I mounted the tag on to black card, then added a "Wink of Stella" to the wings of the dragonflies to give a lovely spakle.

I used a white Posca Pen to add dots around teh dragonflies, then added a word sticker saying "See the light" from the Lavinia Stamps "Sentiment Stickers 6" set.  Finally, I added some dots of hot pink coloured Liquid Pearls called "Dazzle" and set the tag aside to dry.

Penny Black "Sparkles 40-625" Heart Christmas Card

Another Christmas card, this time using a selection of products from different manufacturers.

For the hanging heart,  I have used one of the Penny Black baubles from their "Sparkles 40-625" slapstick/cling stamp set, stamped and coloured in "Festive Berries" Distress Oxide Ink.  I gave it some brush strokes of "A Wink of Stella" to give it a lovely gold shimmer to the surface.

I used "Shadow Grey" Ranger Archival Ink through the Sweet Poppy Stencils "Holly Backplate".

I mounted the card on to a piece of red card and then on to a white card blank, finally adding the  sentiment of "All I want for Christmas is you", which is part of a Simon Says Stamp set called "Tiny Words - Christmas", stamped in Versfine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Lavinia Stamps "Floral Wreath" Birthday Card

I made this Birthday card this morning, using an off-cut of a Brusho paint background I'd had hanging around for a while, so I have no idea what colours I have used to create the coloured background.

Using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" ink, I stamped the Lavinia "Floral Wreath" and the "Waffle Flower" sentiment.  I then inked the edges of the card, before mounting the card on to a piece of blue card and then a white card blank.

To colour the wreath buds, I used a Derwent Inktense pencil, called "Mineral Blue" applying the colour with a paint brush.  Once dry, I used "A Wink of Stella" to provide a lovely subtle gold shimmer over the wreath.

Lavinia Stamps "Winter Whispers" Forest Leaf gift tag

While the new release by Lavinia Stamps, called "Winter Whisper" stamps were out on my desk, I decided to make a tag.

I stamped the new "Forest Leaf" stamp in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.  I then coloured the leaves using rwo shades of Derwent Intense pencils (Apple Green and Mineral Blue). I then coated the leaves with "A Wink of Stella".

I used one of the small Lavinia Stamps blending brushes, to apply "Shadow Grey" Archival ink through the Lavina "Waffle Stencil".  I then used the remaining blue ink on a large blending brush to fade the colour out towards the top and the left hand side.

I used a small Lavinia "Berry" stamp with "Chianti" Versafine Clair ink, I then coated the berries in red Posca Pen and added some touches of white to give the impression of light hitting them.

Finally, using a fan shaped paint brush, I splattered the surface of the tag with small dots of gold paint.  Once dry, I then mounted the tag on to a piece of dark green card.

Funky Fossil Designs "Hedgehugs" Autumn wreath card

A CAS card from me this morning using the Funky Fossil Designs "Hedgehugs" stamp set

I stamped the wreath, pumpkin and toadstool in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" greeen ink, colouring them using Derwent Inktense pencils applied with a paint brush.  I used a white gel pen for the dots on the toadstools and a red Posca Pen for the berries.  I've added a few brush strokes of "A Wink of Stella" to areas of the leaves and pumpkin.

The sentiment is also part of a Funky Fossil Designs stamp set, called "Small Print #2", which I stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Sweet Poppy Stencils " Botanicals Holly Sprigs" Christmas Card

Another CAS card, this time I'm fast forwarding to the festive season with a Christmas card.

I used the Sweet Poppy "Aperture Circle Stencil" with "Library Green" Ranger Archival Ink to create the shaded partial circle.

I used Versafine Clair "Rain Forest" dark green ink to stamp the Sweet Poppy "Botanicals Holly Sprigs" stamp.  I coloured the leaves using three shades of Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a brush.  I added "A Wink of Stella" to the leaves to give a beautiful subtle gold shimmer to them.

A red Posca Pen was ideal for colouring the berries.  I added white highlights with a gel pen to the leaves and the berries.

Next, I stamped the sentiment, which is part of the Sweet Poppy "Festive Phrases" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Tulip Red" ink.

Finally, I added splatters of white paint using a fan shaped paint brush to replicate snow flakes.

Visible Image Stamps "Born to perform" gift tag

Here's a tag I made last night, but got engrossed in the final of "The Great British Sewing Bee" on TV so forgot to upload it.  Did you watch the programme? I felt Asmaa was consistant with all her makes and that final dress was amazing.  I still have no idea how she made it.  A worthy winner as far as I am concerned!

Anyway, back to the tag.  I started by using three shades of Ranger "Archival Inks" to create the background colour, starting with the lightest "Pink Peony" blending in to "Vibrant Fuchsia" and then "Cactus Flower" at the base of the tag.

I lay the Visible Image "Breakout" stencil across the top corner of the tag and applied more of the "Cactus Flower" ink through the stencil.

I then moved the stencil to the lower right hand side and repeated the process.

Moving on to the stamping, I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink with the Visible Image "Born to perform" stamp set.  Stamping the figure first, then the word "Dance" at the base of the tag and then "Born to" at the top left.

I then used Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink to stamp two sizes of stars, which are also part of the Visible Image "Born to perform" stamp set.  I added a bit of sparkle to the middle of the stars using "A Wink of Stella" pen.

Finally, using a black pastel pencil, I grounded the dancer.  I added a few touches of white gel pen to areas of the dancer to make her pop a little too.
