It's the last day of using household items. I've used a jiffy bag, cardboard and a page from an old book for my household items.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">For my tag, I have used the paper side of a jiffy bag. I scrunched up the paper and then smoothed it a little and inked the surface so that the crease lines were inked up, using "Paprika: Elements Inks. I then glued the paper on to a tag and trimmed the excess off. I then inked the edge of the tag with the same ink and then with Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I then used some sheets from an old hymn book, using both the music notes and the text. Tearing into smaller piees, then adding a bit of colour using various inks. I then glued the paper fragments into position.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I used the "Paprika" Elements Inks again, this time through the dotty end of the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous stencil with a reference of THMM101.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I splattered black and white paint over the surface of the tag using Posca Pens. I then mounted the tag on to red card.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I rummaged through my stash of pre cut die cuts and found a couple of hearts. I stuck the large heart in the middle of the heart. I had a small off cut of cardboard with the corrugation exposed so I gave it a coat of Gesso, when dry, I then rubbed some "Paprika" Elements Inks over the raised edges, then stuck it horizontally in the middle of the tag.<br /><br />Finally, over the top of the cardboard, I added another die cut heart from my stash and added a small button in the middle and then added some dots of Ranger black Enamel Accents across the surface of the tag.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-71798198133346823992024-03-15T07:30:00.007+00:002024-03-15T07:30:52.125+00:00Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 27<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCX5Ur9HYh_P2nWLPP8O-s3zraMOj7OJTQA_GJ-cU1bugYiucmLARrErmRlS3kC_OerI0_tQtEH4o06Ibn8GnKyl5l2gZ0LuQrn4xaAMQ3lra29dRt-VrNtVaysj3LE2DAB7iKHyW2hFd4JrfFAGkaYY6Jgd6MBmoIyQ9W6V3CYL54zDyEM667cniMK84h/s5213/IMG_4290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="5213" data-original-width="3128" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCX5Ur9HYh_P2nWLPP8O-s3zraMOj7OJTQA_GJ-cU1bugYiucmLARrErmRlS3kC_OerI0_tQtEH4o06Ibn8GnKyl5l2gZ0LuQrn4xaAMQ3lra29dRt-VrNtVaysj3LE2DAB7iKHyW2hFd4JrfFAGkaYY6Jgd6MBmoIyQ9W6V3CYL54zDyEM667cniMK84h/w384-h640/IMG_4290.JPG" width="384" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Today is Day 27 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge. In each alternate stripe, I have painted "Candy Floss" Pink Paperartsy Acrylic chalk paint.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Once the paint was dry, I used a black fine liner pen with a ruler to edge the pink stripes.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I used Versafine Clair "Rain Forest" ink to stamp the Penny Black "Breezy - 40-111" cling stamp over the background design. This is day four of a week of using "Household Items".<br /><br />This is my Day 25 make. I started using a piece of cardboard from a cereal box for the background. I covered the cardboard with pieces of scrunched up and smoother sticky packed foil tape.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I mounted the foil covered cardboard on to a piece of teal coloured card. Using the off cuts of the teal card, I cut it into thin strips and stuck them in position over the copper foil, alternating from the edge of each side. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Moving the prepared background to one side, I took some white paper straws, arranging the position of the lengths till I was happy and put some tape along the middle on both sides to retain the position. I then wrapped the central area in more copper tape. I then positioned and glued the drinking straws on to the background using double sided sticky tape.</span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhds8_pi1xkpr4KUA36j2XcLAA-FF-MCjdR5Bz34zUaLpdEqhpR5QAKaZZV6AF4n-XRqc3sa8RmT6CTJ5Z2sk53ZZjM4LsT1en0eP1ARkA3SaGCyUcsYGLrBMXEu41M-hRbGzhM5H8t1EeUmmmQyEe_FLWW9OK98ne_Lh_9_o03U809fd9T7JPM8NaTfuuH/s2905/IMG_4243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2786" data-original-width="2905" height="384" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhds8_pi1xkpr4KUA36j2XcLAA-FF-MCjdR5Bz34zUaLpdEqhpR5QAKaZZV6AF4n-XRqc3sa8RmT6CTJ5Z2sk53ZZjM4LsT1en0eP1ARkA3SaGCyUcsYGLrBMXEu41M-hRbGzhM5H8t1EeUmmmQyEe_FLWW9OK98ne_Lh_9_o03U809fd9T7JPM8NaTfuuH/w400-h384/IMG_4243.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">For the central embellishment. I glued two layers of 2x2" pieces of cereal box cardboard together. With more of the same cardboard, I die cut two hearts and glued them together then glued them to the middle of the square. I tore off a strip of copper sticky backed tape and scrunched it up into a tight ball, I then smoothed it out a little and positioned over the cardboard. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I used a paper stump to outline the heart and I smoothed over the surface of the heart using an old store card. I then went over the whole square, including the heart with a black Sharpie pen, then rubbed off the surplus using a piece of kitchen towel and then a soft cloth to buff it. Finally, mounting the square on to the background using foam pads.</span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-73015858294459805632024-03-12T07:30:00.010+00:002024-03-12T07:30:00.134+00:00Tiffany Johnson Creative #100dayartplay Challenge - Day 24<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtwLeflnXOHGnEAOrDDscnrLhejif4d7RS-HmQwUGLn8i3nWX_ZHF6bUAUi-ouFjLRIWopHr2NL0Zx06TMkGafixvy_mPDEkeA0k5liUzRww5JkHVNsut5qZ0hqMRxPiKVTDPfX-ACKRi7XTCQW7kguI733v8YBYzezVGM1Cch_UvJUgO4COkdraU1c2w0/s3370/Day%2024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3343" data-original-width="3370" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtwLeflnXOHGnEAOrDDscnrLhejif4d7RS-HmQwUGLn8i3nWX_ZHF6bUAUi-ouFjLRIWopHr2NL0Zx06TMkGafixvy_mPDEkeA0k5liUzRww5JkHVNsut5qZ0hqMRxPiKVTDPfX-ACKRi7XTCQW7kguI733v8YBYzezVGM1Cch_UvJUgO4COkdraU1c2w0/w400-h396/Day%2024.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Today is Day 24 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge. The theme for this week is use household items. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">How long is a piece of string... For my Day 23, I have used string, a "household item that lingers in the drawer for years and rarely gets used. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I started with a piece of kraft card measuring 5x5".</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I used a circle mask to make the background circles, using "Light Gold" Pan Pastel through the mask. Using wet glue again I drew a trail and stuck the string to it.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I printed out the phrase "How long is a piece of string", cut it to size then mounted the phrase on to a piece of dark blue card, sticking it in position using double sided tape.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-90808405920616268422024-03-10T07:30:00.002+00:002024-03-10T07:30:00.142+00:0052 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2024 - Week 11<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3SfX4j0jeB8hnxp61ugn-s5sh7zNGa0KwmuUfW2-W6HqJGNlEiJSZ5OBYz1sCaZoQx9YToMAoGxMF8aEv-bkHOK_XDZIZqo0NjUt7z8Pe4dKmBIKSe6rhAYLw0tXo7BBViYVODeI9W_5pyXXRlWFbYfJQm2BxQXus72I3f_VQ9jGrfjC6Tw-LCnJTGFNy/s3332/IMG_2040.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3332" data-original-width="1943" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3SfX4j0jeB8hnxp61ugn-s5sh7zNGa0KwmuUfW2-W6HqJGNlEiJSZ5OBYz1sCaZoQx9YToMAoGxMF8aEv-bkHOK_XDZIZqo0NjUt7z8Pe4dKmBIKSe6rhAYLw0tXo7BBViYVODeI9W_5pyXXRlWFbYfJQm2BxQXus72I3f_VQ9jGrfjC6Tw-LCnJTGFNy/w374-h640/IMG_2040.JPG" width="374" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">The challenge for 2024 is weekly. I will provide you with a prompt/theme each Sunday morning through out the year. The challenge is very relaxed. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can create cards, tags, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) or index cards, the choice is yours. You just go with what ever is in your head at the time. You can stamp, get inky, use patterned papers, texture, embellish it is all down to you.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">There is a dedicated private Facebook Group, with a lovely bunch of people who are already sharing their makes from previous challenges. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/196051880944909" target="_blank">You can find the group by clicking this link.</a> I'd love you to join in.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><b>The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:</b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><b>The prompt for Week 11 is "Create your own pattern"</b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><b>*****</b></span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">This is the tag that I have made for the Week 11.<br /><br />I used a plain manila coloured tag and a black Sharpie pen for my tag, keeping the design really simple. I drew a flower petal on a piece of cardboard and used that as my template, drawing round it multiple times to create an "off the edge" flower pattern. I then filled in the middle of each petal with more black Sharpie pen. I edged the tag in black and then mounted it on to a piece of black card.</span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-7468926919914596942024-03-10T07:15:00.016+00:002024-03-10T07:15:00.138+00:00Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 22<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj16xp97vdtXdSP7ds65d0dApoGnI6m5RFNdIVMszwefvXgI19aDdTYK6WZo8WthuWLgEfBOHiI5NQ4OI6y-lctcOaR0aSYpfVKVVAIQd4Iw6GB5-BBmPv622_yCA_ezDsMeaCaYBWbvCVSlG6SkZbhcKuB7wKTqgd-BD2ti5bWfupdmrDHAo-T86GUTuon/s4769/IMG_4203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4769" data-original-width="2820" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj16xp97vdtXdSP7ds65d0dApoGnI6m5RFNdIVMszwefvXgI19aDdTYK6WZo8WthuWLgEfBOHiI5NQ4OI6y-lctcOaR0aSYpfVKVVAIQd4Iw6GB5-BBmPv622_yCA_ezDsMeaCaYBWbvCVSlG6SkZbhcKuB7wKTqgd-BD2ti5bWfupdmrDHAo-T86GUTuon/w378-h640/IMG_4203.JPG" width="378" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Today is Day 22 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge. It is also the start of a new week of prompts. This week is all about household objects.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">For my household object for this tag, I have covered a tag in an Asda supermarket till receipt in a collage format, so torn and overlapping till the tag was covered. I then slightly diluted the Paperartsy Acrylic Chalk Paint in an orange shade called "Cayenne" and painted over the till receipts so that the detail just pokes through in areas.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Once dry, I used a white Posca Pen to splatter paint across the surface of the tag.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Next, using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" I stamped the doodle patterns vertically on the tag, using a Funky Fossil Designs stamp called "Doodle Borders". While the ink was out, I inked the edges of the tag.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I mounted the tag on to a piece of dark blue card cut to tag shape. Finally, going around the edges and filling some of the doodle areas in using a turquoise coloured Posca Pen.</span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-12668209548152980772024-03-09T15:29:00.004+00:002024-03-09T15:29:44.101+00:00Lavinia Stamps "Botanical Blossoms" Tag<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiufL6SlGcCEsrjB6En2bAOsBCldJ56bBtxss2dClZyDBwLteS3MkL0VEBLhDnVo2ZmGhzCT8SyAHsPacSwDF0eOsxgKtcPf1EgrnUJCimwnDpukoTa-d7_073KslhibA8QRY-i6vK0njsgbgdqFZvUncTIaptLP3cEp4IepYzYLeD5rslvFJPKZ3Tybx-z/s4354/IMG_4215.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4354" data-original-width="2635" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiufL6SlGcCEsrjB6En2bAOsBCldJ56bBtxss2dClZyDBwLteS3MkL0VEBLhDnVo2ZmGhzCT8SyAHsPacSwDF0eOsxgKtcPf1EgrnUJCimwnDpukoTa-d7_073KslhibA8QRY-i6vK0njsgbgdqFZvUncTIaptLP3cEp4IepYzYLeD5rslvFJPKZ3Tybx-z/w388-h640/IMG_4215.JPG" width="388" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">My order of the new stamp release from Lavinia Stamps arrived early afternoon, so I wasted no time in getting to play with my favourite stamp from the new release, the "Botanical Blossoms".</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I cut a piece of kraft card in to a tag shape, then using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, stamped the new "Botanical Blossom" stamp, coating the stamped image with Wow! I blended the colours to that they were lighter on the top right, blending to darker in the bottom left hand corner. Over the top of that I lay the Funky Fossil Designs "Cellular Stencil" and applied "Night Sky" Ranger Archival ink through the stencil.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">For the eye, I used Ranger "Jet Black" Ranger Archival Ink through the Visible Image "Eye Contact Stencil" over the top of the patterned background. <br /><br />The actual eye area didn't show up too much, so I decided to sort that by using the same ink and stencil on a piece of white card and fussy cutting it. I then repeated the process for the central iris area, painting it with two shades of Distress Oxide Inks, using "Tumbled Glass" and "Salvaged Patina". I then added some yellow Posca Pen to the eye too.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Finally, I mounted the card on to a piece of black paper and then on to a piece of white card, adding a Lavinia Stamps word sticker (from their Sentiment Sticker set 6), saying "Look Up" to the bottom right hand corner.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-38197772470730583492024-03-01T07:30:00.008+00:002024-03-01T07:30:00.135+00:00Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 13<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKu6tvIJ1Tce38Vu1w6gRboWHDg1ObUWb7rx0_t4drRLk3csA0TrDb5CYOdVfMyw32-EgaQcHXQWlnY7Tn2CZf_1yDywvg7NI6s0mUUy3fMU0nxtpC9HkgBWtdjl61B6vCOY0uPnsBggMXacclhh9RusLVuEfKTa43qxvPhPLUBRXiQxyX9Jm6LobvVkyV/s3376/Day%2013%20big.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3376" data-original-width="2003" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKu6tvIJ1Tce38Vu1w6gRboWHDg1ObUWb7rx0_t4drRLk3csA0TrDb5CYOdVfMyw32-EgaQcHXQWlnY7Tn2CZf_1yDywvg7NI6s0mUUy3fMU0nxtpC9HkgBWtdjl61B6vCOY0uPnsBggMXacclhh9RusLVuEfKTa43qxvPhPLUBRXiQxyX9Jm6LobvVkyV/w380-h640/Day%2013%20big.JPG" width="380" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">It's the second week of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge. This week is all about "stencils". This is the tag that I made for Day 13.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">This was a very quick tag to make, using a base of white card, I lay the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Gingham Layering Stencil - THS134" over the white tag shaped piece of card and applied two shades of Distress Oxide Ink through the stencil usin a blending brush. The colours I used was "Mowed Lawn" at the top of the tag and "Wilted Violet" at the base.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Next, I lay the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Sparkle Layering Stencil - THS132" over the top and applied "Dark Denim" Elements ink through the stencil.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">I then mounted the tag on to a piece of navy blue card and cut to the tag shape.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">Finally, using "Medieval Blue" Versafine Clair Ink, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" greeting on to a piece of white card. The stamp is part of the Simon Says Stamp "Creative Everyday" set. I die cut the greeting using the matching die set and then added it to the central area of the tag using foam pads to elevate the greeting.</span></p>Sam Squires - A Crafting Nichehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02461735053678061486noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077823628232637796.post-65496844393406464002024-02-29T07:30:00.007+00:002024-02-29T07:30:00.126+00:00Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 12<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKRcuza398n1bAylB1zcdfSLee6DiuKnY8mDE9fzH_BXKK-RF2pX2eKZIfutcfVh6fCfJExtH5pxoONTxOS_uxRmC-64TtA2Kcpb1CjE00ksA96zypQvmUQTzR8VtLNC1CM0b7D6Cjk2p4JSXViZIsnkK0Y34a2uDW5y73vqDfvZdjx6LoZ1xqSkU-DwXj/s2740/IMG_4093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2740" data-original-width="2389" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKRcuza398n1bAylB1zcdfSLee6DiuKnY8mDE9fzH_BXKK-RF2pX2eKZIfutcfVh6fCfJExtH5pxoONTxOS_uxRmC-64TtA2Kcpb1CjE00ksA96zypQvmUQTzR8VtLNC1CM0b7D6Cjk2p4JSXViZIsnkK0Y34a2uDW5y73vqDfvZdjx6LoZ1xqSkU-DwXj/w558-h640/IMG_4093.JPG" width="558" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><p></p><p><span style="font-family: arial;">It is Day 12 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.
