Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 87

Today is Day 87 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge, this week is inks week for me.

Starting with the inner image, I used Versafine Clair "Twilight" ink to stamp the jelly fish, which is part of the Visible Image "Dare to swim" stamp set.  I coated the stamped image with Wow! Clear embossing powder and heat set.  I then covered the body and the water circles with Pebeo Drawing Gum.

I moved on to colouring the background, using Distress Oxide Inks (Speckled Egg, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feather).  I then dipped a fan shaped paint brush into some water and tapped the brush over the background letting tiny droplets of water settle on the Distress Oxide Ink background.  After a few seconds, I mopped the surface with a piece of kitchen towel, which left a lovely speckled look.

I used Versafine Clair "Twilight" ink to stamp more air bubbles and Versafine Clair "Bali Blue" ink to stamp the fish on the right hand side.  I then used Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" ink to stamp the sea weed.

I rubbed off the masking gum and then painted the body of the jelly fish using Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a brush.  I used a white Posca Pen to accentuate the air bubbles.

I then moved on to the larger background.  On a piece of white card, I lay the Visible Image "Fibres" stencil over the card, then applied two shades of Distress Oxide Inks through the stencil, using "Cracked Pistachio" and "Tumbled Glass" shades.  Finally I mounted the jelly fish piece on top of the stencilled background, using double sided sticky tape to stick the two together.

Design Team make for "My Time To Craft Challenge Blog" #414 Disney Inspired

It's time for a new prompt on the "My Time To Craft Challenge Blog".  Challenge #414 is "Disney Inspired".  If you have a minute to spare, please do pop over and take a look at the fabulous makes by my Design Team colleagues and maybe enter the challenge yourself?

I decided to go with a mermaid theme. I used a background I had prepared a while back.  It was made using the gelli plate and from memorey "artichoke" Colorbox ink brayered onto the plate and "turquoise" Brusho splashed onto the plate using a fan brush.

I used three Visible Image stamp sets to create this card.  First I stamped the mermaid (Visible Image "Mythical Mermaid" stamp set) on to the coloured card base and also onto an off-cut of white card, using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" in both instances. 

Using the coloured card base I stamped the rays over the head of the mermaid using Visible Image "Rays of light" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Paradise" blue ink.

Using a stamp from the Visible Image "Dare to swim" stamp set, I stamped the sea weed using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

I then coloured the image of the mermaid, using a black fine line marker pen for the staff (both on the coloured background and the area by the arm of the mermaid).  I used "Tattered Rose" Distress Oxide Ink (applied with a paint brush) for the skin and an assortment of Signo Pens for the rest of the mermaid.  I then cut the image out wit the exception of the staff and adhered onto the card. 

I inked the edges of the card in a blue Distress Oxide ink called "Blueprint Sketch" and then stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Finally, I stamped the air bubbles using a Lavinia Stamps "Sea Bubbles" stamp in Versafine Clair "Paradise" blue ink and coloured them with a white Posca Pen.

Visible Image - Dare To Swim Card

I have continued my play with Visible Image goodies, creating this little underwater scene.

This is a small card, with the actual coloured centre measuring approximately 12 x 8 cm.  While tidying a file I keep my gelli plate backgrounds in, I came across this off-cut.  I was so close to throwing it in the bin , but decided to create something with it instead.

I don't recall the specific colours I used to create the gelli plate background, but before I started stamping there were soft green splodges on a pale blue background, which kind of lent itself to a watery scene, which lead me down this path.

I used the Visible Image "Dare To Swim" clear stamp set and a selection of Versafine Clair inks through out this project.

I started by stamping the sea weed in "Verdant" light green ink.  I then stamped the shoal of fish in "Morning Mist" grey ink.

Next I stamped the jelly fish, using "Twilight" a dark blue coloured ink.  

I decided I needed another colour of sea weed, so used "Shady Lane" which is more of an olive green shade, colouring the sea weed with coloured pencils.

I then stamped air bubbles using "Warm Breeze" a turquoise coloured ink.  I coloured the air bubbles with a white Posca Pen.

I moved on to colouring the jelly fish itself, using a selection of Signo and Sakura Gelly Roll Pens.

I mounted the image onto navy blue card and then onto a plain white card blank.  I stamped the last line of the sentiment vertically in "Twilight" ink.
