Patchwork Lap Quilt Update

You may remember a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I had purchased a small quilting kit at a charity shop.  I really enjoyed hand quilting it, so decided to pull out a UFO (unfinished object) from the depths of the cupboard, which will eventually be a lap quilt.

The history of it so far: about seven years ago, I cut and machine pieced the top of the quilt.  It then got put away in a cupboard.  A few years on, I took it out and sandwiched the pieced top, the wadding and the backing together by tacking/basting the layers together.  It got put away again.

Today, the lap quilt saw the light of day again. I decided to draw on the quilting designs.  I used a  large and medium size glass pudding basin and a Pringles lid to draw the circles on to the fabric.

Now all that is left to do is the little, tiny job of hand quilting... wish me luck.  It could take some time, but I will hopefull get it done over the coming cooler months.

Continuation of The New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt

Back in 2015, I started a hand sewn patchwork project with lots of fussy cutting, consisting of making interlocking rosettes made of hexagons.  After a while, I went right off it and the quilt got stuffed in the back of a cupboard.

Roll on seven long years I got to thinking about the project and decided I could do some hand sewing in the caravan.  It was hard to pick up where I had left off, after such a long time, but I did and I am slowing making progress with it.  I've been sewing while I have had Covid, I've not fancied and paper crafting since being poorly.  Fortunately, I am now on the mend.

This is where I am up to on the patchwork quilt.  The rosette at the top of the screen needs another round of hexagons on it and will then be attached to the piece below.

A Hexagon Patchwork Card

I recently purchased a little set of hexagon dies, so decided today I would try them out.

For this card I chose patterned paper from the First Editions "Paper Flowers" paper stack which I purchased from The Range.  I cut the paper into hexagons using the Xcut "Nesting Hexagon Die Set" which was a really cheap price at under £3.

I positioned the hexagons on a card blank and glued them into position.  I then found a pre cut die cut "thanks" word (originally cut using a Stampin' Up die from the "Hello You" thinlits set). glueing that into position.  Finally I added some sticky backed pearls.
