Creating Gel Press and Funky Fossil Backgrounds

Last night before tea, I decided to make a few backgrounds, using the gel press and stencils.

I decided to use acrylic paint, brayered to a thin layer on the gel plate.  I then lay the stencil over the top, applying slight pressure all over.  Removed the stencil and brayered a small amount of white acrylic paint over the top and then took the impression.  Every one is different, even when using the same colour paints.  I love the final reveal and always find myself ooohing and aaahhhing over them.

For the top image I used the Funky Fossil "Lots of pips" stencil.

For the lower photo with the circles I used the Funky Fossil "In the groove" stencil.

Distress Oxide Ink Backgrounds... and there's more!

While waiting for Bake Off to come on TV last night, I made some more Distress Oxide backgrounds.

It's funny, I used to make and use a lot of these, but for some reason in recent months I seem to have used other things.  I love the way the colours distort when they hit each other.  That is one of the reasons I prefer to work with the Distress Oxide Inks rather than the original Distress Inks as the Oxide colours tend not to get muddy looking.

Gelli Plate Play

Today I have taken a break from creating cards, instead I have had a messy session creating backgrounds with various sizes of gelli plates with two shades of Colorbox Inks (Olive and Cornflower) and Brushos (Lemon, OS Red and Purple).  Hopefully these should keep me going for some time.

Creating Pretty Backgrounds (using Gel press and Brusho)

I realised yesterday, my stack of prepared backgrounds was getting low, so had a quick messy half an hour creating some pretty pastel coloured ones.

For these backgrounds I used a Gel Press, also known as a Gelli Plate. With Colorbox Inks brayered onto the plate and splashes of Brusho.

I really like what I've produced, however the cleaning up after my messy session wasn't so nice!

Gelli Plate & Brusho Play

I've been having a play with the Gelli plate and Brusho paints on Colorbox Ink again, making these fab backgrounds.

I get a bit messy while doing it, but it is totally worth it for the unique result.
