52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2024 - Week 48

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

This is a weekly challenge. I provide you with a prompt/theme each Sunday morning through out the year.  The challenge is very relaxed.  You can do as much or as little as you like.  You can create cards, tags, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) or index cards, the choice is yours. You just go with what ever is in your head at the time.  You can stamp, get inky, use patterned papers, texture, embellish it is all down to you.

There is a dedicated private Facebook Group, with a lovely bunch of people who are already sharing their makes from previous challenges.  You can find the group by clicking this link.  I'd love you to join in.

The prompt for Week 48 is "Music"

For my Week 48 tag, I used a plain cream coloured tag and cut music elements from the Funky Fossil Designs "Turn it up" patterned paper and stuck them into position.

I used a stamp from the Funky Fossil Designs "Press Play" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink for the central sentiment.  Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink I stmaped the Lavinia Stamps "Music Notes" stamps.

Finally, I added dots and splattered of Posca Pen using turquoise, pink, red and grey inks.

A quick card featuring a camper van by Funky Fossil Designs.  The stamp set is called "Good Vibes".  I've stamped the camper van and the sentiment, part of the "Stripped Back Sentiments" also by Funky Fossil Designs in Versafine Clair "Blue Belle" ink.  I've added colour to the van using some bright Posca Pens.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 55

Today is Day 55 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about using the gel press.

I've used Pan Pastels on the gel plate with three stencils by Funky Fossil Designs.  The stencils I have used are:  Retro Starburst, Peony Panel and Distressed Diamonds. For this card, I have only used half of this gel plate print.

Using Verasfine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the figure and sentiment, which is part of the Funky Fossil "Serenity" stamp set.

I created a dark ground area for the figure, by using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink and the torn edge of a piece of paper.  I outlined the figure using a white gel pen. Finally adding Versafine Clair "Strawberry" to ink the edges of the card.

Funky Fossil Designs "Urchin" Good Luck Card

A quick good luck card featurning a stencil and stamp from Funky Fossil Designs.

I masked off an area of card, then used the Funky Fossil "Urchin" stencil with two shades of Ranger Archival Inks, starting with "Orange Blossom" ink, I then moved the stencil and used "Red Geranium" ink through the stencil. Over the top of the darker flower petals, I added "A Wink of Stella" to give a lovely shimmer to the flowers, adding dots of yellow Posca pen to the centres too.

I cut two thin strips of black paper and added them to two edges of the stencilled area, sticking in position using glue tape.

On a black piece of card, I used Wow! embossing ink to stamp the word "Good Luck" which is part of a Funky Fossil stamp set, called "Stripped Back Sentiments".  I coated the stamped area with Wow! Bright White Embossing Powder and heat set.  I then used a banner die to cut the sentiment to shape, using black sticky pads to stick the sentiment in position.

Finally adding three dots of black Ranger Enamel Accents.

Funky Fossil Designs "MDF Fish Trio" Mandala decorated hanging fish.

For the past three weeks, it feels like I have been fighting off a cold.  Last night it came out in full force, I even did a Covid test - just in case, it was negative, so this is just a cold. I am sniffing, coughing and spluttering and actually feeling quite miserable, even though it is a beautiful sunny day.  Hopefully it will pass quickly .

Anyway, I fancied doing something that I wouldn't have to think about too much and decided to try mandala painting again.  You may recall earlier in the year I had a go at it and it was reasonably successful, but as you can see from my effort today, I need to perfect my art of mandala dotting!

For the base, I used one of the three "MDF Fish Trio" from Funky Fossil Designs. Here's the link if you want to buy them. I coated both sides in metallic silver paint.  I then went over that with three shades of Cosmic Shimmer "Iridescent Shimmer Water Colour Paints" using pink, green and blue.  I set aside to dry, which didn't take long at all.

I then used three sizes of mandala dotting tools with a selection of PaperArtsy "Fresco Finish - Chalk Acrylic" paints to create the dotty design.

Funky Fossil Designs "Surf's Up" Card

A very quick CAS card this morning, after the more busy cards I have made of late.

I've used the Funky Fossil Designs "Surf's Up" stamp set, stamping the figure and the sentiment in Versaine Clair "Warm Breeze" ink.

I used "Garden Patina" Ranger Archival Ink through the Funky Fossil Stencil called "Waverider" stencil.  Finally, adding a few touches of silver glitter pen around the end of the surf board.

Stampers Anonymous "Flower Jar CMS297" Card

I was up at silly 'o clock again this morning.  I was feeling too hot to sleep, so decided to get up and make this card.

I decided to use a Stampers Anonymous stamp set, I've not used them for ages, opting for the red rubber cling set called "Flower Jar - CMS297".

I used two shades of Versafine Clair inks (Warm Breeze & Morning Mist), both stamped in second generation stampin as I didn't want hard solid lines for the glass jar.

Next I stamped the flower, using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" for the stem and "Summertime" for the flower head, again stamped in second generation stamping as I wanted the whole thing to look light and delicate.

I coloured the flower with Derwent Inktense Pencils, applied with a paint brush, I also extended the stem of the flower towards the base of the jar.

I used "Weathered Wood" Distress Oxide ink and a 2B pencil to ground the jar.

Using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink, I stamped the "Thinking of you" greeting, which is part of the Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Words" sentiment stamp set.

I then used "Lost Shadow" Distress Oxide ink, through the Funky Fossil "Micro Dots stencil" just around the main stamped area.  Finally adding some touches of white gel pen as highlights.

Funky Fossil "Beauty's Garden" Tag

Tidying up one of my craft shelves, I came across some patterned paper off-cuts from a Funky Fossil paper pad called "Neutrals".  I challenged myself to use them up, rather than putting them away again, so made this tag.

I'm not very good at informal style of crafting, so stuck the paper on to the tag base without trying to think about it too much. I then splattered metallic gold paint across the surface of the tag and set aside to dry.

I inked the edges of the tag with Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink and then "Nocturne" black ink.

Using the Funky Fossil Designs "Beauty's Garden" stamp set, I stamped the urn and the sentiment on to a piece of cream coloured card stock using Versafine Clair "Nocturne".  I fussy cut the urn and then inked the edges of it in black.  Using foam pads, I positioned it on to the tag

I die cut the sentiment in to a banner shape, giving it a light coating of Versafine "Shady Lane" green ink before sticking it in to position on the tag.

I used a We Are Memories "Ring Hole re-inforcer" to cut three circles in black card and stiuck those on to the tag too.

Finally, I mounted the tag on to black card, going around the edge with a gold shimmer pen.  I also added touches of gold metallic pen to the urn and also added some dots of gold coloured Ranger Liquid Pearls too.

Funky Fossil Designs "Heartfelt" Anniversary Card

Here's a quick anniversary card I made this morning.  I've used the Funky Fossil Designs "Heartfelt" background stamp and a sentiment from their "Stripped Back Sentiments" stamp set, using Wow! Silver super fine embossing powder, heat set.  I've then used a banner die to cut the sentiment into shape.

Funky Fossil Designs "In the neighbourhood" new home card

Here's a "new home" card I made using Funky Fossil Designs products.

I started by applying two lines of low tack masking tape across a piece of white card, about two inches apart.

Within the lines of masking tape I applied three shades of Archival Inks using blending brushes.  I used the Pink Peony, Orange Blossom and Cornflower Blue shades covering the rectangle.

Over the top of the blended ink area, I lay the Funky Fossil "In the neighbourhood" stencil, securing with a tab of low tack tape and used "Cornflower Blue" Ranger Archival Ink with a blending brush through the stencil.

I removed the stencil and the masking tape, then added little white dots of gel pen to the sky above the houses, just to break up the colour a little.

Finally, I added the "Home - is the nicest word there is" sentiment, which is part of the Funky Fossil "Home" stamp set, stamped in Versfine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.  I then stuck the piece to the front of a card blank.

Funky Fossil "Blooming Numbers" Ruby Anniversary Card

I've made this Ruby Anniversary card by stamping the Funky Fossil Designs "Blooming Numbers" stamps in Versafine Clair "Tulip Red" ink and then coating with Wow! Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.

I then inked the edges of the card, lightly blending towards the numbers using "Lumberjack Plaid" Distress Oxide Ink.  I then lay the Funky Fossil "Micro Square Stencil" over the top and applied the same ink through the stencil using a blending brush.

Finally, I coloured the flowers and leaves using Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a paint brush and added dots of gold for the berries.

Funky Fossil Designs "Doodle Alpha Blocks" Diet Journal Cover Page

Funky Fossil Designs recently released a stamp set, that shouted to me to use in my diet journal.  The stamp set arrived in the post today, so I got busy creating a page... I appear to be in orange mode today, this being the second orange coloured make of the day!

I started by digging around in my background folder, where I found two backgrounds using Funky Fossil stencils with Pan Pastels.  I used the "In the grove stencil" and the "Lots of pips stencil", I don't recall which Pan Pastel colours I used.

I distressed the "Lots of pips" background by using a white pastel pencil and dragging a green Versafine Clair ink over it.  I then stamped the Funky Fossil "A7 Sea Life stamp in Versafine Clair "Rain Forest".

I did cut the "In the grove" background and inked the edges of it in Versafine Clair "Rain Forest" green ink and then stamped the Funky Fossil "Doodle Alpha Blocks" in the same ink. I used a wet glue to stick the circle on to the "pips" background and then stamped the word "Journal" in the same ink.

Finally, I added touches of white gel pen to areas of the letters and dots of "Outrageous" Liquid Pearls to the "Sea Life" pattern in the background.

Funky Fossil Designs "Shellebration - We're on the move" card

I've used a similar background to the card I made yesterday to make this card, again using Funky Fossil products.

With this card, I have used the torn edge of copy paper with Versafine Clair "Verdant" green ink.  I've then used "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide ink with the Funky Fossil "In the clouds" stencil.

I stamped the sentiment and the snail image, part of the Funky Fossil "Shellebration" stamp set in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.  I then stamped the snail image again on a piece of white card.

Using the stamped snail image on the white card, I coloured it using Derwent Inktense pencils.  I then fussy cut it and stuck over the stamped image on the landscape.

I added touches of shading, grass and flowers using a 2B pencil and gel pens.

Funky Fossil "Spring in the forest" card

I've made another card using older stamps and stencils from Funky Fossil Designs, making this card.

To create the landscape I used Versafine Clair "Verdant" green ink with a Lavinia Stamps "Hill Mask'.

For the sky, I used "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide Ink with the Funky Fossil "In the clouds stencil".

I used the Funky Fossil "Spring in the forest" stamp set, stamping the tree in second generation Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink, stamping the flowers in Versafine Clair "Verdant" light green ink.

I coloured the image using Derwent Inktense pencils and a few touches of 2B pencil and gel pens too.

Funky Fossil Designs "African Woman" Card

This morning, I was in the mood for some stencil play, so pulled out some of my older Funky Fossil stencils to make this card.

I found a gel plate background in my file that I'd made a while back using Distress Oxide inks on a gel plate, so thought that would be a nice bright background to use.

I placed the Funky Fossil "African Woman" stencil over the top of the background and applied Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink through the stencil.

Next I used the Funky Fossil "Abstract Pattern Stencil" with Versafine Clair "Summertime" orange ink.

I felt it needed something else, so I pulled out one of my most used stencils, the Funky Fossil "Micro Dots Stencil" and used "Vibrant Fuchsia" Archival ink through the stencil to provide an extra dimension.

I mounted it on black card to pull the eye in to the image.

Funky Fossil Designs "Happiness Blooms" Birthday Card

I've had a few days away again, so I of course couldn't wait to get back to my craft desk, especially as my order from Funky Fossil Designs was waiting for me to play with.

I joined the Funky Fossil Design Team when it first started in 2019. I love their products, especially the stencils, which were my first FF love.

Since 2022 I have been an "Honourary DT Member" which allows me to go away without feeling any pressure to keep up with releases.  I guess it's the best of both worlds for me.

When the "Happiness Blooms" stamp set was released, I knew that I had to order it as I loved the clean look of the design.  I wasn't disappointed in using it either.  I love it.

I stamped the main image and sentiment (both part of the Happiness Blooms" stamp set) using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

I used three colours of Derwent Inktense Pencils to colour the image:  Golden Yellow, Cadmium Orange and Spring Green.  Applied using a paint brush and building up the strength of colours.  I finished off using a 2B Pencil and a white gel pen to add some tone too.

Funky Fossil "Free Spirit" Birthday Card

I made a quick card for a male this morning.  When I say quick, it really was.  It was made, written and in its envelope withing ten minutes!

I've used products by Funky Fossil Designs for this card, starting by stamping the horse image, which is part of the "Free Spirit" stamp set, in Versafine Clair "Twilight", which is a dark blue ink.

I then applied "Shadow Gray" Archival Ink through the "Burlap Texture Stencil" fading the colour out towards the edges.

Using Versafine Clair 'Twilight" again, I stamped the sentiment, which is part of the Funky Fossil "Small Print" stamp set.  Finally I added three sticky backed grey dots to the stamped image.

Penny Black "Serene" challenge card

I've had half an hour free, so made another card for Eileen Godwin's Wednesday challenge of "Circles".

In the background, I used the Funky Fossil Designs "Bokeh Builder" stencil with four shades of Archival Inks:  Pink Peony, Chrome Yellow, Prickly Pear and Forget Me Not.

Over the top of that I applied "Watering Can" Archival Ink through the Funky Fossil Designs "In The Groove" stencil.

Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink, I stamped the foliage and sentiment, using a Penny Black stamp set called "Serene".

I added a few dots of black Ranger "Enamel Accents" to elongate the foliage sprays.

Visible Image "Ahead of our time" challenge card

Today Wednesday, Eileen Godwin has set a challenge of "Circles".  In total contrast to the last card I made, this one is very busy to look at and may make your eyes go funny, so apologies in advance!

I started by using the Funky Fossil Designs "Grid Stencil" with "Shadow Grey" Archival Ink, making it darker around the edges and lighter in the central area.

I then lay the Funky Fossil "3D Sphere" stencil over the top and applied "Cobalt" Archival Ink through the stencil, again, making it darker at the edges and lighter in the middle.

Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink with Visible Image "Ahead of our time" stamp set, I stamped the clock spiral, the falling people and the birds in flight. I then mounted the piece oon to black card.
