Funky Fossil Designs "African Woman" Card

This morning, I was in the mood for some stencil play, so pulled out some of my older Funky Fossil stencils to make this card.

I found a gel plate background in my file that I'd made a while back using Distress Oxide inks on a gel plate, so thought that would be a nice bright background to use.

I placed the Funky Fossil "African Woman" stencil over the top of the background and applied Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink through the stencil.

Next I used the Funky Fossil "Abstract Pattern Stencil" with Versafine Clair "Summertime" orange ink.

I felt it needed something else, so I pulled out one of my most used stencils, the Funky Fossil "Micro Dots Stencil" and used "Vibrant Fuchsia" Archival ink through the stencil to provide an extra dimension.

I mounted it on black card to pull the eye in to the image.

Funky Fossil "African Woman Stencil" gel plate card

This morning I got my gel plate out and had a quick play with a couple of Funky Fossil stencils to create this card.

I used a brayer to apply Versafine Clair "Summertime" orange ink to the gel plate, I popped a piece of copy paper over the inked plate to remove surplus ink, then lay the Funky Fossil "Organic Circles" stencil over the gel plate.  I then placed a piece of card over the top and lightly added pressure across the surface to ensure the negative image of the stencil was on the card.

I removed the card and the stencil, cleaning the stencil, gel plate and the brayer with a wet cloth to remove any residue of ink.

I cut down the printed image to my desired size, then lay the Funky Fossil "African Woman" stencil.  I used some low tack tape to hold the stencil into position.  Using a finger dauber, I applied Versafine Clair "Glamorous" pink ink through the stencil.  Using the same ink, I stamped the sentiment which is part of the Funky Fossil "Lotus Reflections" stamp set.

I used "Picked Raspberry" Distress Oxide ink around the edges of the card, to focus the eye on the main image.  I added a touch of water to the remaining ink on my glass mat, using a fan brush, I splattered the pink ink across the surface of the card, blotting with a piece of kitchen roll. Finally, I inked the outer edge of the card using Versafine Clair "Glamorous" pink ink.
