Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 83

Today, is Day 83 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about inks.  I've gone for a clean and simple look for this sympathy card.

I have used a paint brush to paint the background colour using three shades of Distress Oxide Inks.  I have used Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar and Scattered Straw shades, randomly applied to the white background.

Using an off cut of white card, I die cut the flower stem.  Sorry I'm not sure who makes the die.  I then used a wet glue to stick into position.

I then stamped the Waffle Flower "Essential Sentiments" thinking of you greeting, using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.  I mounted the card on to a piece of soft grey coloured card and then on to a white card blank, before adding a few dots of white Ranger "Enamel Accents".

Lavinia Stamps "Floral Wreath" Birthday Card

I made this Birthday card this morning, using an off-cut of a Brusho paint background I'd had hanging around for a while, so I have no idea what colours I have used to create the coloured background.

Using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" ink, I stamped the Lavinia "Floral Wreath" and the "Waffle Flower" sentiment.  I then inked the edges of the card, before mounting the card on to a piece of blue card and then a white card blank.

To colour the wreath buds, I used a Derwent Inktense pencil, called "Mineral Blue" applying the colour with a paint brush.  Once dry, I used "A Wink of Stella" to provide a lovely subtle gold shimmer over the wreath.

Funky Fossil "Cellular Stencil" Get Well Soon Card

One of our best friends has been waiting to have an operation on his brain for over eighteen months.  Due to various reasons, the operation has been cancelled and postponed but yesterday he was operated on.

We heard today, that the operation went well and that he should be out of hospital in a day or so once the drain has been removed - such a huge relief as he has known about the cyst on his brain for about four years and it has obviously been weighing heavy on the whole family.

He is a big fan of the lemon cake that I make, so this evening I made him a cake, I also bought him his favourite biscuits:  Fig Rolls and Chocolate Hobnobs, so the card was the last thing to make ready to give him when he gets home.  Hubby will be collecting him from Liverpool tomorrow/Thursday.

It's a simple card.  I used Versafine Clair "Warm Breeze" ink, coated in Wow! Clear Embossing Powder and heat set the Waffle Flower sentiment.

I used a circle mask and over the top lay the Funky Fossil Designs "Cellular Stencil" over the top, then applied three shades of Distress Oxide Inks through the stencil:  Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio.

Finally, I added three Funky Fossil Enamel Dots to the bottom edge of the inked area.

Lavinia Stamps "Wild Flower" Birthday Card

Each Friday evening, Lavinia Stamps Design Team member Amanda Branston, does a Facebook Live demonstration.  Last week she showed how to use alcohol inks on a gel plate, so I decided I needed to try out the technique, resulting in this card.

I pulled out my gel plates, alcohol inks and alcohol blending solution ready to play.  I decided to opt for three shades of Alcohol Inks:  a yellow, a green and a blue.  I didn't make a note of which ones I used but I do remember that the yellow one was a pearlescent one, so has left a lovely sheen on the card.

With the gel plate on my glass mat, I squeezed some "Alcohol Ink Blending Solution" on to the gel plate, then dotted the three colours on top, starting with the lighter, working to the darker.  I added a little more blending solution to the gel plate then used the hand puffer - sorry I don't know what the proper term is, it's like a little fire belllow!  The puffer distributes the ink around the gel plate.  I then pressed a card over the gel plate, leaving in position for about a minute, before lifting to see the image it had created.

I tried this technique several times.   By the third attempt I had got the hang of it!  Lighter inks or less of the darker shades seem to work better... for me at least.

To clean the gel plate, I initially used my water spritzer, but there were still areas of ink left, so used some alcohol gel hand sanitizer which lifted the ink.  I then washed and dried the gel plate before returning to its storage tin.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps in three shades of Versafine Clair inks, using:  Shady Lane green ink for the "Leafy Spray", Warm Breeze turquoise ink for the "Wild Flowers" and Nocturne, black ink for the dandelions.  I actually used four different Lavinia Stamps:  Open Dandelions, Drooping Dandelion, Make a Dandelion and Tall Dandelion.

I coloured the flowers with a mixture of Posca Pens, Signo glitter gel pens, Derwent Inktense pencils and Van Goch Pastel Pencils.  There is actually a lot of sheen and sparkle on this card, which sadly is not captured by the photograh.

I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink to stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment, which is part of the Waffle Flower "Essential Sentiments" stamp set.

Memory Box "Pippi Butterfly" gilded birthday card

I recently watched a youtube video on using gilding flakes by Christine Stokes.  As I have some flakes in my stash, I decided to give it a try.  Here's the link to the video.

I had two pots of Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes (Summer Meadow - gold and Silver Dream) both pots have varigated colours in them.  I used two widths of double sided sticky tape for the vertical line, then die cut into a square using a die with a decorative edge.

I used two Memory Box dies "Pippi Butterfly - 98508" and "Isabella Butterfly - 98507).  First cutting in white card and then cutting a double sided sticky sheet and applying the flakes to one of the sticky surfaces.

I used Wow! Rich Gold embossing powder, heat set, for the Waffle Flower sentiment which is part of their "Essential Sentiments" stamp set.

Sweet Poppy "Blissful" Stencil heat embossed gift tag

Well I didn't tidy my desk away and after dinner, decided to use the Sweet Polly "Blissful" stencil again, this time heat embossing using Wow! Jealous Guy embossing powder.

I used the same embossing powder for the Waffle Flower "Happy Birthday" stamp from thier "Essential Sentiments" stamp set.

Sweet Poppy "Blissful Stencil" CAS Card

As the Sweet Poppy "Blissful" stencil was still out on my desk from the earlier project, I decided to use it again, this time making a CAS card - a total contrast from the previous one!

I used two shades of Archival Ink:  "Prickly Pear" for the lighter shade and "Leaf Green" for the darker. I then used the remaining ink on the blending brush to give background colour on the leaf corner.

I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink for the "thinking of you" sentiment, which is part of the Waffle Flower "Essential Sentiments" stamp set.

Finally, I used "White Opal" Liquid Pearls to add extra detail to the foliage.

Waffle Flower "Essential Sentiments" Congratulations Brusho Card

This morning I made a congratulations card.  My Hubby is taking his flying exam at this very minute, so I have my fingers crossed that he calls me with positive news later and I wanted to give him a little card to acknowledge his achievement.

I have used one of the Brusho backgrounds I made earlier in the week, I've added a touch more colour around the edges using "Tumbled Glass" and "Shaded Lilac" Distress Oxide ink.

Using one of the Lavinia Stamps "Mini Star stamps" and Memento"London Fog" ink, I stamped the grey stars randomly.

I used Versafine Clair "Blue Belle" ink to stamp the Waffle Flower sentiment, which is part of their "Essential Sentiments" stamp set, I then die cut the sentiment and adhered to the card.

Finally, I used a Sakura gel pen to add a bit of silver sparkle to the middle of the stars and adding small dots across the card.

Card-io Snow Family Christmas Card

I'm still working my way through my "To Do" list.  With just two more items to do, which I am so happy about!

I made this card for our three Grandchildren in South Wales.  We won't see them for Christmas, but will be popping down to see them before the festive period.

I used a number of shades of Distress Oxide Inks to create the background sky and landscape.  I stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink and "Morning Mist" grey ink, colouring the snowmen with Posca Pens.

I used the following Card-io stamp sets:  Snow Family, Winter Wonderland and Winter Breeze.

The sentiment is by Waffle Flower Crafts and is part of their "Essential Sentiments" stamp set.  Once I had layered and mounted the image on to the card base, I added glitter to the card, which unfortunately doesn't show up too much in the photograph.

Day 24 of the "24 Days of Tags 2021" challenge with Karen Telfer

Here it is, my Day 24 tag, the final one of the "24 Days of Tags 2021 challenge with Karen Telfer.  I've really enjoyed creating these tags.  There hasn't been anything too taxing and it's been a pleasure to craft because I want to, rather than making something for an occasion.

I've used Kraft card for the background.  I've used a Waffle Flower sentiment from their "Essential Sentiments" stamp set and the Lavinia Stamps "Mystic Swirl" with Wow! clear embossing ink and their Super Fine Bright White embossing powder heat set to create this tag.
